Absolutely brilliant, we had the most fun on the dance floor in a long time. As experienced dancers - this was the perfect break, a pleasure from beginning to end!
Lynn Elvy & Lesley Fegan, Gerrard's Cross - Solos Ballroom & Latin dance break
Dancing has been Wendy’s passion from a very young age when she started English country dancing at school. Even then she knew she wanted to be a teacher. When attending teacher training college in Belfast, according to Wendy, “the boys in the Scottish dancing group at Queens were far more interesting than the ones in the Irish dancing group - so guess which one I chose to join? “ From that day on in 1961, she was smitten with Scottish dancing.
She spent many years teaching in various schools but didn't start taking her teaching qualifications in Scottish country dancing until 1993. Although in demand to take classes she didn't feel she should unless she was qualified to do so. Even now Wendy still does her best to go to Summer School at St Andrews every year - and says that she still learns something new every year.
She takes classes in Andover and Salisbury on a regular basis and has taught at day and weekend schools far and wide: York, Eastbourne, Tunbridge Wells, Isle of Wight to name a few - and abroad in Holland and Prague.
She also teaches a class at Winchester which she originally attended herself on her return to England in 1964.
Dancing is a huge part of her life with her weekends kept busy, calling with several bands at weddings, ceilidhs and Scottish themed evenings. She also organises her own ceilidhs along with birthday and anniversary events.
