Line dance as we know it today has its roots in country and western dancing and a combination of many different styles of dance and cultures. Round and square dances together with the folk dances from the multi-cultural American West resulted in the development of a new style producing Country & Western Dance.
Other influences include the dances from the film Saturday Night Fever – a crossover of disco and country music - and the popularity of performers such as Billy Ray Cyrus, Jimmy Nail, Shania Twain, the Mavericks and Lee Ann Rimes.
However, you can forget the cowboy image as these days line dancing is accompanied by a wide variety of music styles, both new and old. As long as it has a regular beat, you can line dance to it!
Linedance is exactly as the name suggests, a performance of a set routine by lines of individual dancers who don’t have partners. As it continues to grow in popularity, different trends are starting to emerge including disco, techno, hip-hop, Irish and Latin American.
In essence it is very social and is a great dance style for solos to get together and have some fun on the dance floor. Our holidays will keep you young, fit and healthy in a fun and friendly way. Suitable for all ages. Hosted by experienced dance instructors.
Absolutely brilliant, we had the most fun on the dance floor in a long time. As experienced dancers - this was the perfect break, a pleasure from beginning to end!
